Truth in Aging

PureCeuticals Grape Seed Hydrating Crème had me at hello with its pretty coral color, unobtrusively grapey scent and light, almost whipped texture. Best of all it is hydrating without being heavy. It is readily absorbed by the skin and is not at all greasy, not even for an instant. Grape Seed Hydrating Crème is billed as a face and décolletage cream and I found it works well for both, and as a hand cream.

Grape Seed Hydrating Crème is part of PureCeuticals’ Exotic Naturals line. These products use plant-sourced ingredients and no harsh chemical preservatives and, therefore, have a shelf-life of six months. The most dominant ingredient after water is palmitic acid, one of the most prevalent saturated fatty acids in body lipids. In aging skin, it can decrease by up to 50%, so it’s not a bad idea to be adding it back topically. What’s more, in 2010, a study found it to have some antioxidant effects.

PureCeuticals’ unpretentious formula has sunflower seed, jojoba and olive oils. Other hydrating ingredients are shea and cocoa butters. It is worth noting that the safflower here isn’t a mere oil but the oleosomes. These are found in the seeds and are where they store energy until they germinate.

A key hydrating ingredient is gluconolactone, which in this case is derived from sugar. This is a great ingredient that is water attracting, a free radical scavenger, protector from UV rays, and may even improve rosacea-prone skin. As you would expect, Grape Seed Hydrating Crème has antioxidant grape skin extract, boosted by licorice, raspberry and spinach extracts.

I highly recommend it as a nourishing, but light moisturizer for all ages and skin types.

Fantastic skin care line from Pure…The Cherry Glycolic Peel is a 15% blend of Glycolic, Lactic and Salicylic Acids that promotes collagen formation. It balances uneven skin tone with natural skin lighteners that brighten and leave skin glowing for days. This delicious smelling vitalizing peel encourages cellular respiration while removing dead skin cells.

Hotsy Totsy

PureCeuticals Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanser is an aromatic,, gentle cleanser, that removes impurities, and excess cellular build up. Most importantly, it kicks makup’s ass! I find a lot of cleansers that are called “gentle” do nothing for removing my makeup. This one is full of; pumpkin seed oil, lactic acid, and ginger root oil. So clean up with pureceuticals and get dirty again….

Hello Dollface

by Caroline Leavitt
I had never heard of this line before, but I quickly fell in love with it. First, it’s made of natural and organic-based ingredients, all formulated using scientific principles. None of the products contains parabens, sulphates or petrochemicals. Nothing is tested on animals and the amazing fragrances come from 100@ essential oils rather than chemicals. It’s beauty that’s environmentally conscious, are vegan friendly and use both clean energy sources and recyclable packaging.

The Aha Apple Exfoliating Serum, advertised as a “peel in a bottle” has glycolic, a naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid derived from apples, which can exfoliate dead skin, minimize those pesky lines, reduce sun damage, minimize pores, heal acne scarring and even reduce hyper-pigmentation. I must admit it stings a bit when you first use it, but that might be because it’s not recommended for sensitive skin like mine, but I couldn’t resist trying it. I had much better luck with the Ferulic C Antioxidant Serum. Boosted with Vitamin C, it has anti-aging properties and is meant to even out skin tone, encourage collagen synthesis and reduce wrinkles. I followed directions and applied a thin layer to my face, neck and chest, following with a moisturizer. It goes on clean and it feels incredibly soothing.

The Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanse smells so delicious I wanted to eat it. Rich in enzymes, Vitamin A, beta-carotene, amino acids and antioxidants, it also has ginger root oil to stimulate detoxification and micro-circulation, and if you have acne, it helps clean that right up. Like all of the PureCeutical products, it felt great going on. Carrying on the pumpkin theme is their Multi-Enzyme Pumpkin Peel, meant to dramatically improve your skin’s clarity and texture. The ingredients are positively delicious: pumpkin, pineapple and papaya, with Willow Bark extract to keep pores clean.  I left this on for 7 minutes and felt only a slight prickling sensation, massaged it in to loosen up the dead skin cells and then washed it away. I swear my skin looked as if it had been buffed!

I never can find moisturizers that I feel are rich enough for my dry, sensitive sky, but the Grape Seed Hydrating Creme was so thick and rich, you could eat it with a spoon! Made from antioxidants, it also has Shea Butter to protect you from the sun, Amazonian Butter, which is rich in oleic acid to promote nutrition and moisture retention in the skin, and Raspberry Fruit extract, which not only gives the product its intoxicating fruity scent, but also soothes your skin.

This is really beauty that’s more than skin deep!

My Beauty Bunny

I’ve fallen in love. Put a ring on its finger, marry it and love it forever kind of love. I’ve started introducing it to my friends and family and every other sentence is beginning to sound like, “So this other day, I was washing my face with PureCeuticals…”

I saw positive results after the first time I washed and moisturized my face with PureCeuticals Exotic Naturals product line. I didn’t have to wait weeks to see a change in the skin on my face. I saw and felt a change immediately. Did you hear that? Immediately. PureCeuticals is also eco-conscience, holistic and actually effective on my skin! The products do not contain animal products and they are vegan friendly. I’ve found the ultimate beauty catch!

Product Whores

I was recently introduced to a fantastic natural and organic-based skincare brand and am still shocked at how much I love everything I’ve tried.  PureCeuticals has two different lines to choose products from – one contains high levels of cosmeceutical grade ingredients and the other, Exotic Naturals, is eco-conscience and holistic – both contain no parabens, no sulphates, no petrochemicals, fragrances are composed with 100% essential oils and nothing is ever tested on animals!  I’ve been using a delightful sampler set of items for a few weeks now and am amazed at the results.  My skin looks and feels healthier and I love the way everything smells (I’m very into products that smell great).  My stand-out faves are their Pumpkin Enzyme cleanse which smells like yummy pumpkin and their Grape Seed Hydrating Creme which smells fresh and hydrates like nobody’s business!  PureCeuticals is definitely worth a check-out, especially if you are looking for some natural, afforable, products for your skin!  And if you live in the LA area, you can try to secure a highly-coveted facial from the brilliant mastermind behind the PureCeuticals brand, but word on the street is it’s hard to get into see her because she’s so well-loved!  Makes sense she would give an amazing facial or peel, considering her products are so fabulous!
